Professor Rafik A. Aliev

•Professor L. Zadeh (USA):
R.A. Aliev is one of the leading contributors in his field and his work has achieved international recognition. I have been greatly impressed by Dr. Aliev’s books and papers dealing with various aspects of fuzzy logic and its applications. Dr. Aliev has an unusual ability to develop basic theories and apply them to the solution of practical problems. His work addresses a wide range of problems extending from intelligent manufacturing and robotics to expert and multi-agent systems. In my discussions with Dr. Aliyev I found him to be very well informed on recent development in soft computing and computational intelligence. His versatility is quite unusual.
Dr. Aliev’s work places him in the front ranks of scientists worldwide. His publications record is outstanding in all respects.

•Professor W. Pedrycz (Canada):
Professor R.A.Aliev is a distinguished scholar in the area of computer-aided control systems, modern control theory, fuzzy sets and systems, soft computing and multi-agent distributed artificial intelligence. His outstanding research records come hand in hand. Not only this publication record stands for itself but these papers involve fundamental results used throughout research community across the globe. He is well known on the international research arena serving on program committees of numerous prestigious conferences.

•Professor R. Elrod and Professor B. Fazlollahi (USA):
His research interests include modern control theory, fuzzy sets and systems, neural networks, genetic algorithm, soft computing and multi-agent distributed artificial intelligence. The achievements from his research have been applied in robotics, optimization and in diagnosis of technological processes. His research works are widely applied in Iran, Germany, USA and other countries by the specialists. We consider doctor R.Aliev is worthy of the highest praise. His record speaks volumes as to his dedication and contributions to his fields of interest.

•Professor S. Klaczko (Germany):
Unfortunately, I don’t know the current level of the achieve¬ments of Azerbaijan, since I do not speak Azerbaijani and Russian both. But if the scientific level of the Engineering Sciences in your country corres¬ponds to the scientific level of professor Aliev, then Azerbaijan can compare itself with any other industrialized country in the world. I learned the works of professor Aliev in 1990 as I was the main publisher of the international scientific book series. There the volume 98 appeared with professor Rafik Aliev as the author. I am proud to have been a participant in that enterprise - was the first book on systems Engineering published in English in a Western country by an Azerbaijani scientist since 70 years. The very high scientific level of this book acted first as a visit card for the whole Azerbaijan science in the Western World. Until this time – as far as Asia concerns – mainly Japanese, Indian or Chinese scientists were recognized in the western countries. After this publication professor R.A.Aliev was received at a different prestigious universities in the USA and in Europe as a peer, becoming invited to research and to lecture there as a scientific ambassador of Azerbaijan.

•Professor D. Dubois (France):
I have met professor R.A.Aliev several times at conferences. Dr. Aliev has been very active in promoting modern approaches to Information and Systems Sciences in his country. He has been instrumental in maintaining and enhancing communication between his research group and the international scientific community. His achievements in terms of published papers, research supervision and involvement in conference organization are noticeable.

•Professor D. Antoni (Italy):
Doctor R.Aliev’s researches are focused on a wide number of areas, ranging from soft computing, fuzzy logic and systems, neural networks and genetic algorithmic and control theory, intelligence applied to distributed systems, multiple agents. He has served as chairman on a number of international conferences and has been member of board for several journals.
He has suggested multidimensional adaptive systems. He is the creator of new theories in modern control.

•Professor I.Kurawaki (Japan):Doctor Aliev has a large publication record, which includes over 300 research papers, more than 35 books in the United States, Germany, USSR, Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan.
He had prepared a wide range of scientific staff. Dr. Aliev’s achievements and research have been applied in practice.
Dr. Aliev has fathered new theories in control theory and has created novel intelligent robots.

•Professor E. Mamdani (England):
Professor R.Aliev has been an active and determined research worker throughout his career focusing his investigations on a range of related topics concerning the implementation of computer intelligence. He has been a party of many of the key developments in this subject over the many years of research. He has translated his enthusiasm for his subject into supervising the work of many students and inspiring them to pursue similar areas of enquiry. I have come to know him as a dedicated worker in the area of fuzzy systems and soft computing. In this area he is well-known within the wider international community where he has produced a significant amount of original work. Through his many activities he has achieved the status of one of the leaders in the area.

•M. Jamshidi Professor and Director of NASA Center for Autonomous Control Engineering (USA):
It is indeed a pleasure for me to comment on one of the most distinguished engineers/scientists of the current time. The progress of science and engineering in Azerbaijan has been, in part, a result of Professor Aliev. He has helped make Azerbaijan an active member of international technical community in such areas as Soft Computing, Control Systems and nonlinear systems. Professor Aliev is one of the finest human beings in any capacity at the present time. He is a perennial scholar, educator and researcher. Respective to new horizons, he has gone to educate numerous students. He served as a major advisor to many MS students and PhD students, and inspiring many others. He has simply put his country on a map of international respect and visibility in many areas of science and technology.

•Professor B. S. Garcha (USA):
I have come to know Dr. Aliev and his scholarly work during his visits to Georgia State University. I had the opportunity to attend his presentation on Expert Systems for fuzzy problems. His work is original and pioneering in this area. We are impressed with the contributions that Dr. Aliev has made in this area. I have spent some time individually with Dr. Aliev. I have found Dr. Aliev to be a scholar and a Gentleman. He is highly intelligent and understands the process of discovery of new facts and new processes. During his discussion with the audience he exhibited impressive depth of understanding of the theoretical as well as practical aspects of the topics he had presented.

•President IFSA (International Community of Fuzzy Systems) Professor I.B.Turksen (USA):
Professor R.Aliev has contributed many seminal ideas in the domain of Soft Computing. His achievements have been applied in robotics, optimization, and diagnosis to technology processes.

We have been working on different scientific researches for a long time. The leading scientists of the world valued Prof. Aliev’s contributions in the area of research. We have published some fundamental records together in Germany. Under his chairmanship 5 International conferences were held in different countries.

•Doctor, Professor G. Rizzotto Director of international Information Academy (Italy):

R.Aliev is a distinguished scientist in information and control systems. He is well known in Germany, England, France, Japan and in other countries of the world with his scientific records. He was awarded with USSR State Prize on research of control systems and informational systems. R.A. Aliev is one of the creators of the theory of hybrid intelligent systems. Scientific results on fuzzy logic have been widely applied nowadays. Professor R. Aliev have been a supervisor of many candidates and doctors of sciences.

•Academician N. N. Sheremetevsky (Russia):
Professor R.A.Aliev is founder of coordination theory in integrated systems, theoretical basis of fuzzy intelligent systems. A prestigious scientific school on control systems has been established. He is well known with his 43 published records in Russia, USA, Germany, Iran, Azerbaijan and other countries of the world.
•Professor O. Kaynak (Turkey):
Professor R. Aliev is a distinguished scientist on control systems, artificial intelligence, fuzzy sets, neural networks and genetic algorithms. He has great services in spreading these scientific branches all over the world.
The International Conferences in Iran, 1994, in Germany, 1996; 1998 and 2000, in Turkey and Tashkent, 2001 were held under R.A. Aliyev’s leadership. He brought contribution in the expansion of the science in worldwide.
I must note that R.Aliev has his own place in the world’s science.

It’s my great pleasure to say that professor R.Aliev is an out¬standing scientists and one of the international figures of modern science.
R. Aliev has close connections with Tabriz University and has con¬ducted seminars on new subject there. He had published 2 books in Iranian Islamic Republic and provided international Conferences. His scientific contributions and dedications in Tabriz University are incomparable.

Professor R. Aliev is well-known scientist on theory of information and control systems.
